Pineapple “leather” is made from fibers from the leaves of the pineapple plant.
These leaves are considered waste from the existing pineapple crop.
Pineapple “leather” is an innovative textile that has been developed to be used as a sustainable alternative to mass-produced animal leather and polluting synthetic materials, offering a better choice for a better future.
By recycling waste, the production of pineapple “leather” reduces the amount of pineapple leaves burned, which reduces CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere.
Each linear meter of Piñatex avoids the emission of the equivalent of 12 kg of CO2.
